One of the first DIY projects I did when I got my Young Living starter kit was create a face serum and it is, to this day, my fave product.
There are so many face serums on the market and the prices range from a little to A LOT. One jar of that fancy face serum at a shop or department store can cost up to the price of an entire Young Living Essential Oils starter kit. -FACTS- So, I figured out how to create my own – and it works wonders.
When applying EO to your skin, most times you need a carrier oil, you can use cold-pressed grapeseed oil, hempseed oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, or any of your favorites. For this recipe, I like to use Cold-Pressed, Organic Rosehip Seed Oil. It is anti-aging and moisturizing. Be careful with this, though. It is yellow in color, and it can stain your clothes if you get it on them. Try this Rosehip Oil from Amazon.
You will also need your Young Living Lavender and Frankincense essential oils. I think of lavender as the superstar of essential oils. Well, it is mine anyway. I use it ALOT. Along with the many emotional benefits of lavender, it is an organic and natural anti-inflammatory, so it is great for skin conditions. It reduces redness, acne scarring, blotchy patches, wrinkles, fine lines –I can go on and on.
Frankincense is another oil that is going to give you a virtual face lift every night 🙂 It reduces acne blemishes, the appearance of large pores, prevents wrinkles, and can help lift and tighten skin to naturally slow the signs of aging. Um, YES, please!
One last note. Did ya notice that I keep using the words naturally and organically? Yep-that’s right! By making this serum yourself, you know what you’re putting on your face. You can rest easy that you’re not slathering a bunch of unnecessary chemicals on.
Now, This is a pretty basic formula. There are other oils that can be added for more benefits. In my daughter’s serum, we add Tea Tree for acne and blemishes. Some others add-ins are: Helichrysum for a glowing complexion or Manuka for healthy looking skin. There are many others, but just start with the basics and take if from there!
Stay tuned…my next DIY is Organic Lavender-Peppermint Sugar Scrub. Because-everyone needs some extra exfoliation this time of year!
